A magical tale of an unexpected meeting between a birthday girl and a fairy.
It had been a super party, in fact it was fair to say that it had been the best party that Michelle could ever remember. This wasn’t too surprising as Michelle was only five and couldn’t remember very many anyway. This made no difference at all as she couldn’t imagine there ever being a better party. There had been presents, cards, games, all her friends from school and all of her most favourite things to eat. Even little Billy had enjoyed himself, at least up until the point where he had to go home with a sore tummy after eating one of the paper cups. He’d tried to eat one of the small dishes with the sweets in at first but couldn’t get his teeth through that so he had placed it on his head, proclaimed himself king of his end of the table and eaten one of the paper cups as a royal feast. Michelle had thought at the time that this was a very silly thing to do as he had only just finished a huge helping of sandwiches, three pieces of birthday cake and a double portion of jelly and ice cream. It was at this point that her tooth had fallen out onto the plate next to the cake. At first she wondered where it had come from but then felt the new gap in her front teeth, “Mummy, Mummy! My tooth has fallen out!”. She was just about to start crying when she remembered that it hadn’t hurt at all, and when her mummy reminded her that she would probably get some money for it she even began to smile.
Now, as Michelle lay tucked up in bed she thought once again that it had been the best party ever. She had one last reassuring look under her pillow for the tooth wrapped in tissue paper and finding it exactly where it had been five minutes before, settled down with a contented sigh and soon began to drift off to sleep.
It wasn’t long before she began to change her position in bed, shuffling around to get even more comfortable. As she did so she fancied that she heard a noise, a sort of muffled grunt. Michelle opened her eyes and began to look around the room. A beautiful full moon was shining through her window lighting up even the darkest corners and it was plain to see that there was nothing that could have made such a noise so Michelle decided that she had probably been dreaming. She was just about to snuggle down again when…
