About heroes.
The movement of the small army halted to a stop. The more nervous of the bandits cursed, wondering what nocturnal demons they had encountered, for nothing as powerful as these men could come from a bright day. Surrounding the men and dismounting the thieves closed in and the leader approached. “Who are you men that have no quarrel with me deem you have the right to kill two of my comrades?” he asked, and in response without the time to ruminate the middleman responded, “We have a tacit agreement to be enemies of you and your men if you head toward this village in speed as well as an attack formation.” The trenchant response angered the bandit, and if his sword had not already been drawn he would have peeled it out of the sheath. “For brave men, or fools, you will be remembered for your originality in talking to the men who will take your head as a prize.” and the bandit leader finished in a snide tone, “Kill them.”
To mention what the foolish thief had to say may have been irrelevant, but what good is a story with no remarks bound within the pages?
“Then prepare yourself, for today your heart will be quelled.” and Invictus attacked against their force of forty-eight. The third man of the trio dashed forward toward the rouge leader, who slashed at him with his sword, only to be consumed in pain as a blade was inserted where his elbow was exposed and seconds later his throat slashed. The middleman made a high kick to the chest of a thief that rushed toward him, crushing his lungs, sending him sprawling, hindering the approach of a cluster of men and thus making way for their lives to end as the large sword sliced through three men, and a fist following that knocking out another two in the wave behind them. The archer stayed close with the middleman, firing support with his swift arrows, as the third man took the rear making an intangible circle. Minutes later the bout was over, and any man running away took with him a heavy arrow.
This is the indelible story of clan Invictus.
