Chapter1.

Dan Weets had cancer and was hooked up to so many medical contraptions that Jack could barely see his head Cornel Jack Weets Jr. was saddened his father would be passing soon. He was grateful that he had been called home from Fort Hood to be with his father in his last few days.

Dan Weets was a software genius. Jack was proud of his father especially since the systems he designed were used militarily. Some of the most sophisticated system used by the defense deptment had been created by Dan Weets. When Dan was on Capitol Hill many people would whisper, that is “The Dan Weets.”

Dan had started a small company in the late 1980’s. He had named it Maghreb Extrinsic simply because he liked the way it sounded. The company exploded finically a few years after Dan had formed it. It took a top secret clearance to work at Maghreb Extrinsic.

Maghreb Extrinsic had expanded into the civilian market and the shareholders had reaped the benefits 50 fold. Dan ever conscious if losing the company would never part with his shares.  He maintained 80% ownership of Maghreb Extrinsic shares and enjoyed the freedom of controlling the board of directors. The company made many billions of dollars gross every year and Dan was generous with paying himself and always seeking different options to pad his payday even more.

When Dan Weets asked for his son Jack to visit him before he passed. President Glover himself had made the order. General Scraferey had sent his G4 corporate aircraft to whisk him to Maryland to see his father at the Rosburg Hospitable.

Dan awoke and motion for his son to come closer. Jack obeyed and put his face as close as the medical devices would allow. In a weak voice Dan told Jack, “my son time is running out for me and I have to lay the plan out to you.”

“Of course Dad”, Jack replied.

Jack I have had a wonderful life. I have no regrets. I did it my way, Dan told Jack.

“Yes Dad, you certainly did it your way. I have always been so proud of you,” Jack told his father with a little waver in his voice.

“And I of you son, I didn’t like the military choice at first but you proved it was what you were suited for.” Dan proudly proclaimed to Jack.

To be honest with you, it got me hanging… I am looking forward to what would happen later with Jack and his father…
