A flash back for when I came out of the Broom Closet to my family.

It was a quite spring day when after my family routinely had all of us dressed into our nice clothes and threw us all into the car to go to church. I was walking around the back of our two acres of land with our old dog Bubbas when I decided to face each point of the compass and call the elements to a circle. I felt the energy of the elements rush through me and enlivine me with courage to tell my parents that I was no longer going to go to church with them and that I was going to go and practice my faith openly and proudly.

I walked into our three bedroom home and my three sisters were setting the table and my step mom was just walking in the door from work. She had a pooch or a pouch that hung over the front of her pants that she seemed to be oh so proud ot since all of her shirts were to short and always went up above her belly button when she moved a certain way. The glorious awesomeness of a 39 year old bible thumper who wanted all of us girls to be proper little church going girls who always prayed and always lowered our heads when a man came into the house. What a crock of bologne!

I waited for my dad to click off the tv and I stood there in front of everyone and said ” I don’t believe in your god, I believe that there is a god and a goddess that are a team to make the world stay balanced.”

My step-mother was so outraged that she got up as soon as I started talking about not believing in their god and slapped me across the face and told me that if I lived under this house that I was going to be a good christian girl who went to church.

I stood up to my full height which wasn’t much but I still towered over her and I told her that she may be my dad’s wife but she wasn’t my mother and that she can yell at me and slap me all she wants but she was not going to throw me out of my fathers house unless he said so. I looked at my dad and he was looking at the both of us  then looked down at his lap he seemed at a lose.  He slowly stood up and came over to the two of us and he held my hand and looked at me

“You can believe in whatever you wish I will love you no matter what you are my daughter and nothing I mean nothing will change that.”

My step mom looked mortified she stormed off into their room and started throwing items across the room I heard the mirror shatter and then I heard clothes being pulled off of the hangers. She was packing up and was getting all her clothes together(OH YEAH!!).

I didn’t have that great of luck my dad went in there to calm her down she ended up hyperventilating and had to get an ambulance to come and help her breathe. Police were at our house the rest of the night since the only thing my step mom said was that him and her had a fight and nothing about me and my suddent coming out party.
