Literature.
First according to the title itself, the author had given the story a title with a character that had a characteristic of human disability. In the story “The Beggar’, the main character had a disability of being an invalid because of the lost with his two feet and the story “The Blind Man”, the main character had a loss of sight. With these characteristics the whole plot of the story evolves in it. According to function and development, as what is shown above, both of the persons in the story had the same descriptions of characterization: the protagonist of the story.
According to the development of the story, their character portrays the same description. They were helpless towards the situation of their different life. They were both unloved by the people whom they believed that would help in their distress. They had the same unfortunate and miserable life during their existence in this world. The same treatment they experienced from the people who surrounded them. The aspects that trigger the cause of their horrible death are also the same situation. These are the cruelty and unfair treatment by the people around them. The treatment that let them feels how miserable and useless they are in this world. Although they are different by physical attribute, they have the same unfortunate life that bestowed by fate to them.
On the other hand, for the antagonist of the story basing on the table above, they had almost the same characteristics. Although in some aspects they are different in terms of factors which made them indifferent to the main character still they had commonalities of attitudes towards the protagonist of each story. Being insensitive, cruel and inconsiderate is the major character trait that depicted in their personality in the whole story. These are the attitude that gives a big impact to the unfortunate life of the protagonist. A character trait that was triggers and leads to the horrible deaths of the main character.
The two stories both shows a picture of reality of the attitude of the people nowadays. An attitude that we may witness only in the story but it can be seen in the reality of the world in the present time. An attitude that was every person possess if ever they encounter a person like the protagonist of the story. Insults that thrown to them which made them feel how misfortunate and helpless they are. Names that are branded by the people towards them given a conclusion how useless they are too.
Therefore, both stories depict the reality about the way of most people in dealing a situation of a disabled person and how we cope with their very own situation.
