This is a short children’s story about the power of friendship.

One day, Daisy the cow was walking through the park. It was very cold outside so she decided to put on her mittens. Daisy had bright purple mittens and they kept her feet toasty warm! Just as she was going to put the mittens on, a big gust of wind blew them away. Daisy ran and she ran until she couldn’t run any longer. Her mittens seemed like they would be lost forever! Daisy was so sad that she sat down on a bench and started to cry.

All of a sudden, she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was her best friend Chester the rabbit! Daisy told Chester about her lost mittens. “Lets look for them Daisy. I’m sure we can find them,” said Chester.

They walked around the park all day but still couldn’t find Daisy’s mittens. They were beginning to lose hope! “Look Daisy, there’s your mittens! Way up in that tree!” shouted Chester. They both looked up and saw Daisy’s mittens hanging from a tree branch. “Oh no! How am I supposed to reach them all the way up there?” cried Daisy. “I know! I can hop really high and reach that branch!” said Chester. “Yea! And then I can have my mittens back,” said Daisy. With one big leap Chester jumped and landed on the top branch. Daisy waited patiently below. Chester scooped up the mittens and tossed them down to Daisy. He then gracefully hopped back down landing safely on the ground. “See, I told you I could do it!” said Chester. Daisy quickly put the mittens on her feet because she was very cold. “Thank you so much Chester!” said Daisy. “That’s what friends are for,” he replied. They both laughed and then went back to Daisy’s house and warmed up over a nice cup of hot chocolate. Daisy was very thankful for having such a great friend like Chester.
