A slightly more menacing piece I put together.
The darkness of the room gave her no indication as to who was there, or where she was. She squinted, attempting to see through the shadiness. There was not a spark of light, nor indication of daylight anywhere in the room. It may not even be a room. Mia pulled her arms around herself tightly, chewing at her bottom lip.
So… So cold… It’s so cold in here… Why am I here? What did I do wrong…? It’s so cold…
The bitter, fierce breeze shook her to the core. There were no windows though, where could it be materializing from? She scrambled to her feet, clawing at the walls with her bitten-down fingernails.
“Let me out of this place! Let me out!”
She scratched away at the wall until her fingers bled. Tears crawled down her cheeks; diving off her chin and onto the freezing, stone floor. Her legs collapsed beneath her, and she fell to the floor, gripping her own arms tightly.
So cold… So so alone… I don’t deserve to be here… It wasn’t me… It can’t have been me… I don’t deserve this…
She curled up on the floor and sobbed, her whole body shaking with each almighty sob. There was still no light, still no window for the breeze to emanate from. She listen to her own hoarse breaths, her mouth sore and dry from lack of water.
What did I do to deserve this?
Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip.
A sound… there’s a sound… What could it be?
She dragged herself to her feet again, trying to locate the noise. She peered into the darkness, but it was pitch black. She couldn’t see anything. She stood up slowly, creeping forward from where she lay moments before.
A piercing scream.
Silence.
