The article, “Der Fuhrer: Look What He Did!”, (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2394306/der_fuhrer_look_what_he_did.html?cat=44) was about his wife and daughters. This article is about his three sons.
Der Fuhrer – His Three Sons
The eldest tried everything to get Der Fuhrers’ approval, and never did. None of his sons ever did. The eldest worked side-by-side with Der Fuhrer in the family business. He worked long and hard, but it was never enough. Der Fuhrer bragged to everyone about his sons’ prowess with numbers, but never told his son.
Der Fuhrer was hypercritical about everything, even the little things like cutting his sons’ hair. The eldest sons’ hair was thick and German. The boy was hypersensitive to the vibration of the clippers and would draw in his head like a turtle. Der Fuhrers’ solution: grab the hair on the top of the boys’ head and pull as hard as he could, until he finished trimming the neck and back of his head. Der Fuhrer complained constantly that this boy’s hair clogged the clippers and he would have to disassemble, clean, and reassemble the clippers several times to finish this sons’ hair.
As the boy grew, he learned, as did the rest of his siblings, that it was useless to try to earn Der Fuhrers’ approval. It would never happen. He joined the Air Force. He was happy and life was good. After the Air Force, he became a documents’ delivery specialist. He enjoyed delivering documents. He especially enjoyed the camaraderie that developed between him and the different office staffs. Then came the day when he fell and broke his leg. That accident also broke his heart for he could no longer be a documents’ delivery specialist.
He accepted a position in a Laughlin casino. He delivered change to the people playing the slot machines. It gave him great joy when he saw people win because he knew that they won because he was there to bring them coins. That work took its toll on his bad leg and so he was given a promotion. He was promoted to work in the sports betting windows. He liked to say he was a legitimate bookie. He also became a clown at his church. He entertained the children and shared his heart with them. He not only taught them about Jesus, he shared with them gentleness, caring, and the zest for life that he worked so many years to achieve.
