Description of the reindeer – the average body length of newborn calf is 71 cm in height at the withers – 57 cm, and body weight – 5.3 kg, ranging from 3.1 kg to 7.4 kg. Up to one year of age body weight of males and females does not differ, averaging 21 kg in 2 months of age, 35 kg – 4 months and 36 kg per year of age. By two years the mass of males is significantly greater than the mass of females: aged 27 months the average weight of males is 69 kg, females – 59 kg. Age-related increase in body weight observed in bulls and 4 years, females – up to 3 years in this age of the animals begin to actively participate in reproduction, and seasonal changes in body weight are more substantial age. The average weight of adult bulls (4 years and older) was 87 kg in the spring, summer – 113 kg, and in the fall – 145 lbs. Adult females (3 years and older) Spring body weight was 79.8 kg, Autumn – 91.3 kg. Meat carcass of the largest deer caught us on the lake Ayan, weighed 125 kg: with 50% yield of meat live weight of the bull was not less than 250 kg. With selective shooting of 80 large bulls average weight of meat carcasses of 80 kg live weight, respectively – 160 kg.
