The wind was rushing through my hair; I could see a mass array of mountains to the side of me. I didn’t have a clue where I was. All I knew was that this was a lot better than the inside of my cell. I could see three other guys behind me. They seemed to be enjoying the helicopter ride unlike me. I was just too confused to think at that moment.

You see I was recently convicted for manslaughter. I had never been in trouble with the law before but this time, I got pushed over the edge. I mean I didn’t intend to kill him…

I was at the pub one night. A few of my mates and I had just finished a game of pool, when all of a sudden my phone started ringing. I grabbed the phone out of my pocket. I felt confused because my girlfriend, Crystal, was ringing from home, wasn’t she supposed to be having a night out shopping with the girls?

“Hello?” I answered puzzled

“John………” she stuttered

“What’s wrong darling?”

“I…..I….I just got raped” she cried

“What!!!?” I exclaimed, “What happened I thought you were shopping with the girls?” I asked, puzzled.

“We were”, she sobbed, “We were all standing outside the shop when out of nowhere a guy just grabbed me and threw me into a van. I don’t know where we went because I was just in the back for about 15 minutes.”

“Do you know who did it?” I asked

“Yes…..it…it was Robert.”Crystal cried.

 “Robert! Are you serious?” I said with rage

“I’m certain,” replied Crystal.

“Don’t worry ill get him.”

I thought, Robert? How could it be Robert? My best mate since high school, how could he? Maybe he’s getting me back for not turning up for drinks the other night? No it couldn’t be.

The next day I looked through our phone book and finally found Robert’s address, haven’t been here in ages, I thought.

I got to his house. I flicked my cigarette on the ground and rang the door bell.
