A couple differen’t perspectives about a rocket launch.

“5, 4, 3, 2, 1, we have liftoff!” I said as the rocket engines roared to life in a wave of fire. The sound was ear shattering as the rocket rose into the sky. “Everything normal” I told the crew “This flight is going to be ok” As the rocket flew out of my line of sight, I hoped that what I said was true. This crew’s mission was to be the first men on the moon. Millions around the world were watching their course through space. If something went wrong it would be millions of dollars to waste. A couple hours later I heard the captain talking from the moon. We had done it. Man has been to the moon!

That voice from the control room is always the start of it. The massive amount of force propelling you towards the stars. It felt like you weight 5 times your normal weight, which at that moment you did. Then there was the weightlessness. You went from weighing 5 times your regular weight to weighing nothing at all! It was mental, but amazingly fun. On the way up I though about what I would say up on the moon…

With an amazingly loud roar the rockets propelled the giant spacecraft into the beyond. I felt so proud of my nation! Brave men from our country were going to the moon! And I was there to watch them rocket up into space. Now this was a story I would tell my grand children. I still think back to that day, that amazing day. I remember Armstrong’s words as he stepped down onto the moon. They played it on T.V. “One small step for man, One huge leap for mankind” That’s what he said It was like really being on the moon!
