I never really liked video games, I never really felt connected to them, but I guess its easy to feel connected to them, when your actually in them.
A military evacuation truck on the side of a zombie town. Well that’s just original isn’t it? Maybe if it was a Military Evacuation Helicopter I might think they stole it from a movie or something, but hey its a truck so its pretty creative.
These streets I were walking through, were empty, foggy and in much disrepair. The shotgun was my only real friend at this point, if they were any more zombies out there, I would need it. I have seen too many horror films to not know the formula. A protagonist walking through a decrepit environment until he is ambushed by creatures. I guess the same would apply in video games. However what is the ambush point? When is there going to be a swarm of zombies attacking me from an alleyway? The zombies had to be out there, something had to be moaning, and that something had to be making someone scream. I just wish I knew who was screaming.
When I arrived at a gas station, I noticed shadows emerging from the broken door. These shadows weren’t human, these shadows weren’t going to be my survival buddies. These were the zombies. They slowly walked in my direction, my shotgun was aimed in their direction, if death wasn’t going to make these things stop walking, maybe a blown off leg would. I kept firing in their direction from a distance, but it wasn’t having much of an effect. The shotgun blasts were ineffective from here. If anybody who has played a zombie game was watching me right now they would call me a n00b. It was only until afterwards did I realize that I needed to get close to the zombies for the shotgun to have any real effect. I walked forward steadily holding the shotgun, repeatedly blasting the zombies away as much as I could.
” Well this isn’t very realistic”
The Man walked out of the gas station and took a look at me.
” I mean think about it, how come a random nobody with a shotgun can survive a zombie attack, but everybody else is either running, hiding, or getting eaten alive. It makes the police look like idiots.”
He shook his head.
” I’m sorry Mr. Stone I made this too easy, allow me to fix my mistake”
He snapped his fingers, and numbers once again flew around, but nothing changed. The dead zombies were still on the sidewalk, and the town was as miserable and empty as ever.
” The next time you have another visit from one of our zombie friends, its not going to be as simple as it was during the last”
He pointed behind me.
” take the alleyways to the other side of town, its not the quickest way, but its the only way your going to have a chance now, especially with whats in the open streets.”
I just stood there and looked at him
” What?? that’s all, do you want some more of our mutual friends to eat you alive or are you going to go?”
