An offer you didn’t refuse.
I woke up on a bench, and when I looked to my right… I saw him
” Well I was afraid you’d never wake up”
” where do you have me this time?”
” What an explanation? your demanding explanations of me?, I want to recreate reality for gamers Mr. Stone, they are no explanations in reality, I’m not going to come out and just tell you where we are”
He leaned over and whispered in my ear.
” I am going to tell you this, there is a price on your head and this city isn’t safe,”
As he was saying this, I got anxious, and as he was saying this a black car pulled around and on the side, an AK-47 was pointing in my direction, it sprayed at me, and I hid behind a bench, but the Man was right next to me as I hid…. relaxed as ever.
” There is a boatyard at the edge of the town, if you want to succeed in this level, then you should make your way there.”
As I looked at the gentlemen getting out of his car, and walking towards me with an the AK, I looked where the Man was suppose to be.. he wasn’t there.
I can’t say I remember the next few minutes, its all a blur to me. Perhaps when your life is in danger your mind places less priority on memory keeping and more priority on keeping the body alive, maybe its something more neurologically complex then that. The only thing I do remember is running through an alleyway. The AK wielding gangster right behind me.
Dodging trashcan after trashcan, newspapers on the grounds… the sound of an automatic machine gun firing in my general direction, I didn’t think it was possible to have such bad aim, but maybe its a game thing, maybe that asshole wanted to give me a chance. I saw a video game being played once, sure you could die, but you would at least get an extra life, or.. that’s how I remember it. Maybe once I die in the game, I am just labeled “useless” and promptly disposed off, this bastard seem ruthless enough to consider me “replaceable”.
I made my way out of the alleyways, my only guide to the docks was the sound of seagulls…
