A short piece encouraging folk to value themselves and to find the lessons in everyday occurrences.
My brother, David, and I attended an auction one Saturday morning – selling, not buying! We had been selling some of our late father’s possessions slowly but surely over the months.
It was our time to auction and at that crucial moment, the heavens opened, making the process even more hectic than it usually was! Things were not going well! Apart from the rain, we were just not getting good offers – If any!
At one stage I felt like yelling, “STOP!! This stuff is worth so much more!” But I didn’t, and we ended up clearing most of the things in one way or another, with very little to show for our efforts. I went away feeling rather down, not about the little money made, but about the worth of the items that was not honoured.
I began to contemplate the message the day had brought me … I realised how often I under value MYSELF!!
I present an inspirational talk entitled, “Valuing me, valuing you” … It is about how one has to value oneself before one can value another or something else, and how valuing yourself earns value and respect from others. Mmmm, it is often said, “He teaches that which he needs to learn most!!”
A process of self-evaluation ensued – And yes!! There is work to be done!
I invite you to ask yourself these questions:
Do I value myself enough to say “NO!” when I need to?
Do I value myself enough to speak my truth?
Do I value myself enough to let my light truly shine, to pursue my dreams?
To do what I want to do? To do what I know I can do?
Do I value myself enough to trust myself – To trust my instincts and my intuition?
Do I value myself enough to be myself – To drop the masks and be ME?
Do I value myself enough to be fairly and justly remunerated – What am I worth?
Do I value myself enough to put myself first, to have rest, relaxation and FUN – To make time for ME?
Do I value my self enough to look after my entire body, to exercise regularly, to get enough sleep?
Do I value myself enough to ask for support?
If the answer “No!” came up for you … even once … Then YES! There is work to be done!
“And how do I start to value myself more?” you may ask …
IT HAS TO COME FROM WITHIN – JUST DO IT!!!
And of course, you could ask for support …..
