I believe that a majority of employers out there, could care less about you.

As you know, I had been writing some about a friend and her issues, she has been out on disability for while, and her job has not let her come back, she has Major Depression doctor says and they also want to possibly remove a spot on her back they found.

When she first started having problems, she informed her boss she was ill, and he acted as if he could care less, in fact, he began to treat her as if she did not exist, would say Hello to other employees, the cute, slim, trim one, but would not even say a Hello to her as she walked past him.  She started feeling her depression worsen, then she found she had health issues, and told him about it, and he just treated her as if she was lower then the piece of dirt under his shoe.

All of a sudden she went into work one day after the weekend, and he up and suspended her, and then she was distraught as she already had some doctor appointments lined up, what would she do now, she needed not only her income, but especially her medical benefits, and what really bites me in the A**, is that he knew she needed her medical.  He did not take account of anything but himself and hurting her.

She immediately contacted her doctor that day, as she had a feeling he was trying to fire her, and she needed her benefits.  I guess she was crying so bad and distraught so much, her doctor wrote her a note for a month until she got in for some treatments and see how all was going.  She also contacted the corporate HR for the company and was trying to tell them what her boss was doing and how he was treating her.  The main HR lady told her first things first, she suggested she go on a leave of absence, FMLA, so she was gonna transfer her to the other benefits line to get that set up, so all went well, so far, they put her on leave, then her doctor (shrink) kept writing her notes not quite able to come back yet. This goes on for few months as her Depression is considered Major by the doctor, and gave her some medications to try and get it under control and her back on her feet.

Unfortunately your stories are repeated all too often by employers.

Sadly, they don’t care. A person get time off to get a car out of impound, but if you need counseling, forget it.

If you want to attend school during your off time, nope you have to be available 24/7 so someone can go to a party. No wonder I have “issues”
