This is a story of a man who fathered a child and found out three years later that the mother claimed the child was her dead husband’s. The story takes place in 1993 when all hell breaks loose. It is all true and has much violence, action and will keep you on the edge of your seat as you read it, as it is an all-out assault between two adults that are so angry at each other it’s a wonder they lived through it… This is “Dominance and Submission”.
My love of the automobile
Coming back from Georgia, Unknowing
As we pan down from the moon lit sky, onto Jake’s Crow-Black, 66’ GTO, the full moon reflects on the windshield. Lighting up a silhouette of clouds on an early morning in the South Georgia Bayou. Through the glass Jake, 6’1”, slim body, with long brown hair and brown eyes, absorbs the night air.
Its November, 1989… Jake is coming home from Stonemountain, Georgia on a fall morning. He had to fulfill two contracts there. One was a 65′ Impala, the other a 32′ Ford in which made him a big fat check. He takes the Macon Hwy. south because he’s sure he has a warrant out in Birmingham, Alabama for speeding. He was stopped by a State, 5.0 Mustang interceptor for going 123mph at 4:00am in the morning on Hwy. 59. The GTO was really running great and seemed easy to go fast. As Jake reached the 120 mark, he looked in the rear view mirror to see a 5.0 right on his bumper with the lights going crazy too. So, he shut the car down slowly and came to a stop on the shoulder.
“What’s the big rush about, sir?” Said the police officer.
He told the cop that he was coming from Louisiana, going back to work in Georgia and since it was 4:00am, he didn’t see any harm in making up some time. The cop wrote the ticket and told him to slow down.
The Macon Hwy. in the South Georgia swamp where the tree roots stick out of the ground as if the soil was washed away from the base of the trees. It’s still early and the swamp looks spooky as the moss hangs long from the tree branches like gray smoke from a cigarette.
The sky is a deep, blue with light clouds and a kind of morning mist is in the moon light. All the windows are down and the breeze feels good to Jake as he drives at about 65mph. There are no streetlights on this highway, which makes it even more romantic. The GTO rocks forward and back as the tires hit each division in the concrete street.
He changes the radio from the dread of the morning news to a music station and finds they too are talking about the news. So, he slides in a cassette of a live performance by Judas Priest where in the albums they are covering is their “Defenders of the faith” song. The first song is “Out in the cold”.
