Two teens on holiday Easter egg hunt find body in Des Moines, Iowa.
DES MOINES, IOWA – Two teens hunting for Easter eggs at the Beaverdale Park in Des Moines found more than they bargained for when they discovered the body of a man.
The man has been identified as Goddi Ishima of Des Moines. Ishima had recently moved to the area. He was found lying in a creek with a rope around his neck. One end of the rope was found tied to a nearby tree.
Police do not suspect foul play, but an investigation will be conducted due to the nature of the man’s death. An autopsy has been scheduled to be performed.
The two teenagers found the body during the Beaverdale Park annual Easter egg hunt. The body was discovered approximately 300 yards away from where the holiday festivities were taking place. There were an estimated 100 children and their families in attendence at the event.
Sgt. Chris Scott of the Des Moines Police Department has indicated that Ishima had been reported as a missing person prior to the discovery of the man’s body.
