My parents who found me think it was weird for parents to have there children wear collars with no name.
When power falls to weakness, we get humans. I looked at these words on my collar that when I was a baby I was born with. My parents who found me think it was weird for parents to have there children wear collars with no name. So they gave me a name or the first word I said Liana. My parents thought of me as a beautiful child with my brunette/red mix hair and blue/green eyes. They have always loved me and cared for me since they found me in front of their doorstep.
“Liana! Are you ready for the trip? Arcelia is starting to choke on boredom!” My mother joked impatient of me taking so long. I laughed, my friend Arcelia probably was fake choking out of boredom. Arcelia’s hair is a deep black and her eyes are dark almost black brown. Not commenting to my mom’s words I quickly put on the collar of sixteen years ago while wearing my normal blue jeans and white turtle neck that I wear everyday, cold or hot, then I went to the kitchen where my mom and Arcelia were at.
Arcelia was fake choking until she saw me then mocked, “Damn your slow, I swear the fat lady that sings is faster then you!” I pretended to be offended then I looked for some food in the kitchen.
Arcelia stops me, then tells me, “We’ll get food at the taco shop, before we go to the forest to camp.” I smiled and happily walked outside to go to Arcelia’s car across the street. So peaceful and calm! I can’t wait to go to the forest! Something about it always just made me feel at home. I look up at the beautiful blue sky, there are no clouds. So I look for one as I cross. Where are you little cloud? I giggle at the thought.
Suddenly I hear panic arise from Arcelia’s voice as she yells, “Liana watch out!” I hear a beep from a car horn, and close my eyes about to get hit. I see nothing, but feel a wind. Oh maybe NOW the cloud is going to appear… to bad it’s going to be red. Something grabs me. My jut open in shock as I look up and see a person wearing a collar like mine, then I look around expecting to be dead but see I’m on the sidewalk near the car door…
The boy I see looks around sixteen like me,has silver hair, light red eyes, the red almost frightening but exciting too. Like a flame about to spark. He remarks, “Watch where you walk little girl, or you may just get hurt.” I looked at him amazed how fast he went across the street. I could barely feel the movement! He looked at me then asks, “Where might you be going on a wonderful day like this?” He got closer and I started to answer but, Arcelia stopped me in my tracks coming between us.
Arcelia glared intensely then angrily questioned, “What might a person of your class be doing in this humble neighborhood?” By class she met that he was rich, I thought he was going to walk away and admit some form of defeat but instead he calmly replied, “Just taking a walk around to look at the nice houses, and what might a child like you be doing with car keys?” He smirked, obviously insulting her. This would be a perfect time for me to hide…
Arcelia, now very angry for she did not like being talked down upon by a sixteen year old, she is seventeen. Turned, suddenly calm with cold eyes indicating, “I am seventeen if you could not tell and you look merely sixteen so respect me; your elder!” When she said elder I almost thought it meant something more deep then how she used the word. The boy smiled then disappeared like magic.
I astounded asked, Arcelia, “Where’d he go?” She just looked at me and gave the don’t ask don’t tell look so I quickly went quiet. Arcelia looked up at the sky, shook her head, then sighed, “sigh”. I laughed then we headed toward the car. Still I wondered of the person with a collar like mine, though his had written on it, ‘Patience is virtue.’ Maybe he knew my family? Or had come from the same place as me? These thoughts pondered through my head as I quickly fell asleep in the car.
Bump Bump, the car made loud noises going on the dirt road as we headed toward the forest. I looked at Arcelia and wondered were the food was.
Before I could ask, Arcelia answered in a serious tone, “To late I ate it all.” I became devastated; she ate all that food! I stared at her angry and hungry for food and looked at her like a starving puppy. She stayed serious then stopped, smiled, and laughed saying, “Don’t worry I saved you some, it’s in the back let me go get it, you steer.” I didn’t worry and quickly started steering. It was very easy, I had done this before. I looked forward and there was a black shadow of an animal in the forest.
I wanted to make out the animal. It had the figure of a wolf and the shadow looked as if it was staring in my direction. As I was looking a pair of eagle wings came up. Then the head went up and it howled. I was getting closer and it now looked incredibly weird. A wolf with wings? Impossible! The shadows must be playing games with me. Finally I got close enough to see this was no shadow, it had glowing light blue eyes and was staring at me, still howling.
I tried to stop the brakes so I wouldn’t hit the creature, but it rammed into the car. I heard Arcelia slam into the back of the car, then I felt myself whoosh forward. I almost hit the steering wheel but someone caught me. I looked up to see it was that guy from the morning only he had dog ears, pointing canine teeth, and a tail. He got closer picked me up then with his teeth bit me. It felt like a tap on my neck and I felt a surge of energy rush in me then come out as everything went black…
