This is just sort of my own tribute to Elvis. I think it is nice so many people are devoted so much to him. He must be smiling in Heaven.
Today, August 16, 2011, besides being my nephew’s 6th birthday! is the 34th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley.
The first person who showed up at Graceland showed up 2:30 Monday morning. This person was Bill Rowe who is at his 20th time being first. Elvis was always there for him growing up. “I had a mixed childhood. Sometimes I had friends, at other times I didn’t. When I really didn’t think I have any friends, there was Elvis.”
More people on Monday joined Rowe and they started at the start of the property and lit candles all the way up to Graceland mansion.
Ann McClain says she ardently followed Elvis was a youngster and always shows a picture she took with him at a gas station. She has attended every vigil since his death.
People come from all over, from as far away as Norway and Oxford England. A person from Norway dressed up in an Elvis Costume that came from Lansky Brothers in Memphis.
Pat Roberts who hails all the way from England made a dress with Elvis’ face on it made in a 50s style. She and her husnamd, for their 25th anniversary going to renew their vows at Graceland this week.
A nice touch was his only daughter, Lisa Marie, sent a message to fans to thank them for being there and said she and her mother, Priscilla will be there in Memphis next year for the 35th anniversary.
