Busy time.

Well I’ve had my morning nap, it’s about eleven now and a nurse comes into administer my lunch bolus of course. My breakfast was a formula of high calorie and high protein content. My lunch formula is a formula of high fiber and other essential nutrients. again they take my vitals change my diaper then up into my lounger.

This time instead of being parked in the hall I get taken to the therapy department for my daily ROM–range of motion session. That is where a therapist spends five minutes on each of my legs arms feet and hands putting each through a succession of abduction and seduction movements in order to prevent or stave off contractures. Before and after these exercises the therapist always applies warm packs to my limbs; wow! That feels like heaven.

After my therapy session its time to go to an activity, which one I go to is at the discretion of my caregivers. Sometimes they take me to bingo which is really silly, all I can do is listen to the numbers being called, and hear the winners being given their choice of a bag of m&m’s or a bag of popcorn for the prize. What’s really crazy is when they take me down to arts and crafts where all I can do is sit there and smell glue and paint, if they point me toward a window at least I can watch the birds. My favorite and what brings glee to my heart is when they take me over to one of the special care units for activities. On the special care units at activity time they show old movies or performance videos. I love those old movies and enjoy watching performances like rodeos and circuses and even music videos. I so look forward to those afternoons. Sometimes church groups come to sing or relate to us life experiences that is so wonderful, sometimes I am even moved to try to move when they get to singing and praying. I really hate to see the church people leave.

By now it is around five o’clock and I am taken back to my room and parked beside my bed. I have a television in my room but no one ever turns it own since I don’t have a roommate anymore to request it. So I sit here waiting for my care givers to come and put me in the bed for the night.

In the meantime; the treatment nurse comes in doesn’t say a thing just starts looking me over checks my indwelling receptacles, eyes skin and whatever else is readily exposed, makes her notes smiles at me and exits. I expect that my dinner is not far behind so I drift off to sleep while waiting to be laid down.

See you next time.

Wow what a simple life laid for all of life’s simplicities without options. Very well written, Snooky.
