A young girl taken by a rich and powerful man and Kevin helps her escape.
I pushed her away and told her that we needed to get moving. She nodded slowly I kept waiting for her to say something. She never did.
I grabbed her hand and started running. She followed without even questioning me. There wasn’t any resistance from her, or any of Mr. De graff’s men. That surprised me the most. None of the dogs were barking, no alarms going off, and no men with guns chasing us. It was…strange.
Once we got out to the garage I stared at the cars. I only had the key to the limo, but a limo was to obvious. Thankfully I had quite the record for car jacking. Maybe that’s how someone as young as me got a job working for the devil.
I opened a black Mazda’s passenger door and ran to the other side and hotwired it. Mirabelle got in and shut the door right as the car started. I put the car in drive and left.
The only thing left was the front gate. As it came into view I saw that is was already open. What did Geoffrey do. No was all this was a coincidence. He really wanted me to get away…or was it Mirabelle that he wanted to escape.
Mirabelle grabbed my arm and smiled. I think she was trying to calm me down. It worked, a little.
I only stopped when we had to. I was too afraid to stop anywhere but gas stations and rest stops. We barely ate along the trip.
I didn’t know where to go, so we just drove. By the next morning we came across an airport. I pulled in and bought 2 tickets on the next plane out. We didn’t use them ourselves. I gave them to someone else. Mr. De graff would be able to check where the tickets were for. The tickets were just a decoy.
I kept asking Mirabelle where she wanted me to take her, but still she wouldn’t speak.
Eventually we settled for an hotel, than an old abandoned house, we were never able to stay in one place. I didn’t want to slow down for even a second.
Its now the 6th day since we left. I’m writing at a desk in my childhood home. Tomorrow is the last day, or rather today is. I still haven’t come up with a plan for Mirabelle. I tried to get her to leave on her own, but she refuses to leave my side. She hasn’t said a word to me the entire time. I’m beginning to wonder if she even knows how.
She’s asleep now, curled up in the corner of the room I’m in. It’s slightly before Midnight. I should go to bed myself, but it’s almost the 7th day.
I actually fell asleep, the sun is now shinning. I look around for Mirabelle and there she is, staring at me. She’s concerned. She’s been counting the days too.
The door knob twists. I hear Mirabelle speak for the first time, “He’s here.”
Neither Kevin nor Mirabelle have been found. However, this paper was found after a missing person report had been filed for one Mirabelle Slagter. Mr. Dedrick De graff has been removed from his position and sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole. Geoffrey has yet to be found.
