An excerpt from a story I’ve been working on.

Kairun had finally been released from his incarceration, not entirely sure why, but her was. Without a word he returned to his run down house, broken door and all. He walked in, seeing a tree had grown in his absence, he bent down, using his tail to brush away the snow that had accumulated in his home. Sitting upon the ground, he began contemplating, this was the first time he had fresh air in a while. With a slight smirk, he was determined to beat the other Aquatians, and claim his right-full place as Overlord. Nemphis had to be crushed, as well as anyone else who opposed him. Rolling onto his side, he stretched out his muscles, he finally had room to stretch from arm to tail and not hit a wall. With his tail high in the air, like any Aquatians should when displaying it proudly, he put his arms out in front of him, leaning on him as his feet were extending backwards. Kairun was ready to commence his full training again. Pushing against the ground, extending his arms Kairun found himself lifting up into the air, since it was his first in a while he only went half way, as a simple warm-up. Now several inches from the cold  barren ground, Kairun began bending his arms as they had just been, controlling how fast he returned to the ground, combating gravity. Now his nose nearly touching the ground, he would sent a puff of fresh air through it, causing the grass to ripple in what seemed fear. Having completed what he felt was good enough for a warm up, Kairun then extended  his arms again, as far as he could so that he was now a couple feet from the ground.  Smirking at the newly found ease this task that was once difficult for him to do, he came up with a new plan. Tilting to the left, Kairun then lifted his right hand up off the ground, placing it on top of his back, as he continued the process of extending and bending his left arm, holding most of his weight with one hand. Kairun found this more difficult, but it still was not enough if he wished to catch up to the other Aquatians, he had to make it even harder. His tail began swinging back and forth, trying to figure something out that would enhance his training. It finally came to Kairun as he realized what he could do. The tip of his tail touched the ground beside him, coiling up on the ground beside the bush as it suddenly wrapped itself around the snow covered shrub, shaking half the snow off from just the simple act itself. As the determined Aquatian continued his one handed push-ups, he began lifting the bush, up and down with his tail, almost hitting himself every time he lowered it, but through his skill he always stopped just hairs away from his body. After doing this routine for a while, Kairun felt he needed more challenge, he felt like he could do this all day. Thinking again, he realized how he could make it even more challenging, he wanted to push himself even further than he had before. Extending his arm quickly, sending enough force in it to cause Kairun to start tilting upwards. As he fell down, he rolled back all fingers but one, landing on it he cushioned the blow by bending it, rolling the motion through his finger into the ground. Now with his single finger touching the ground, he began pushing up and down, just as he had done with two hands, and one. Now he was training with a single finger, and his tail, both doing up and down motions repeatedly. Having done this now for a few hours, Kairun had found he was growing stronger, it was becoming easier and easier with each bend of the finger. Kairun figured he would be fatigued by now, but all that time cooped up in prison must have  given him plenty of energy to spare. Now invigorated with the adrenaline pumping through his scaly body, infused into his bloodstream by now. Kairun had a second wind of sorts, suddenly bursting with energy as he even more speedily did his push-ups, with only his finger, as well as lifting the bush back and forth with his tail. Even though Kairun was doing all he had thought possible at the time, he figured he would need to bump it up if he wanted to surpass anyone else on the planet, since after all he did not have any training equipment like the rest did. Was thinking, and he figured out yet another way to make these push-ups, more intense, and more fulfilling. While doing his one finger push-ups, and his tail-ups, he took his left leg, and folded it over his right. Kairun was now balancing on one finger, and one foot as he was pushing himself up and down, and lifting a bush back and forth with his tail. Now this continued to go on for a while, so Kairun was getting tired at first, but his strength began to outmatch the drain he was feeling. Kairun figuring he would need to do something else, because it was simply just not enough to keep up with the others. So he wrapped his tail around the small tree near him, wrapping it fully around and securing his grip on it. Unwrapping his leg around the other, and putting his other arm out in front of him. Now completely balanced, he would begin tightening his grip on the tree as best he could, wiggling it back and forth to check how securely it was in the ground. Kairun found that it was relatively weak for a tree, maybe it was the soil. Either way, it did not matter as he dug into the ground with his hands and feet, and began to pull on the tree, hoping to unearth it. He began pulling, back and forth, side to side. The tree and it’s roots were getting weaker, and weaker as he continued to pull. As an indent on the tree where Kairun’s tail was began to form, he would put all of his effort into squeezing it, trying to get the best grip he could on it. Kairun gave it one final effort, he pushed his arms and feet out, causing him to lunge forwards with his tail still tightly wrapped around the tree. Just as Kairun was hoping, the tree followed, crashing through the air on the same path that Kairun had just finished not even seconds ago. Quickly Kairun released the tree, rolling to the left all the way up to the wall, just barely missing the tree that was just coming down upon him. Sighing with relief, Kairun got up and dusted himself off, and began to de-limb the tree, in hopes to make a log which he had stolen from the ‘Empire’ earlier before, one of the acts that had landed him in prison.
