A wolf named Night is exiled from his home pack, he is sent to cast out alone but then finds a she-wolf…

“Night I have to talk to you,” Shadow, the Alpha male said in his serious tone. Shadow stood outside of the bush the Night was using for a den. Uh-oh. This is going to be bad.Night, the Hunter-ranked wolf thought. Night followed his leader out of the bush tail low. The two male wolves walked in silence to the rock that Shadow often rested on in the day-time. Shadow turned and sat down on the rock and spoke.

“Night, I know you try hard when you’re hunting, but we just aren’t getting enough prey to feed the Clan ever since you became a Hunter. For one thing, you never catch anything,” Shadow’s voice got closer to a growl with every word. “Night, every time you go hunting and we find an elk, you always alert it when the pack is never close enough. You couldn’t even help when Fang Pack attacked us!”

“Shadow, what are you saying,” Night asked in a tone barely more than a whisper. He pressed his ears against his head and looked up at Shadow.

“I am saying that, you are exiled from ShadowPack, Night,” Shadow snarled. “You may spend the night here but you leave tomorrow.”

With that, the two made their ways back to their own dens. Night crawled into his bush den with a heavy heart. Exiled. How will he survive being exiled? Night stood up and turned around, trying to get comfortable. He plopped down and closed his eyes, sealing the events of today away with sleep.

Night woke up after a dreamless night of sleep. He slowly padded out of his den automatically going to the Gathering Rock. The rest of the Pack was already there, some sunning themselves, some talking to each other. Shadow stood proudly on top of the Rock, next to his paws was an uneaten piece of elk, fresh from yesterday’s hunt.

“Hello Night, I hope you had a good night-sleep,” Shadow said with no emotion in his voice or face. The whole pack stood up and walked to the Camp entrance. Shadow gave Night the elk leg, nodded, then walked away without a word. The pack followed hesitantly a few moments later with a last glance at Night. With deep sorrow and a broken heart, the ebony wolf walked to the South, away from the place he was born.
