A weird story about a great eyeball monster that stalks humans in a small rural town in Arkansas, written in 2nd person.

You roll over in your sleep, turning away from the monster in your dreams. Waking up suddenly, you realize the monster isn’t just in your dreams… It is right outside your window! A giant eyeball is floating in midair outside your window. Its vitreous humor is constantly shifting. The iris is a deep red, and it reminds you of the color of fresh blood. As you start to scream, the monster floats away, out of sight. You realize this is not over.

The next night, the eyeball does not return. You stay up all night, scared that if you fall asleep, you will once again awake to find the monster staring at you. Just before dawn, you fall asleep, unable to stay up any longer. You wake up about 5 minutes after dozing off, to see the monster headed towards your house. When the first ray of sunlight breaches the horizon, however, the monster rapidly flies away.

You go about your daily business, dozing off every time you sit down. Towards the end of your workday you realize you just can’t take it any more. You quit your job.

Later that night, you move into your storm cellar. It has no windows, so you feel like you should be safe there. You fall into a much-needed slumber. Big mistake. Nearly 20 minutes after you fall asleep, you wake up. The eyeball is no more than 6 inches away from you, once again staring. Even though you are awake and moving around, the eyeball’s only actions are to trace you with its pupils. You pick a knife up from under your pillow (you had stashed it there in case this happened) and stab the eye. You hear a great booming laugh, and pull back your hand in fear. Only problem… You have no hand. All that is there on the end of your arm is a bone. You look where you stabbed the creature. Your blood is going into his iris, while your flesh is floating to the back of his eye. The creature advances, encasing your entire body in his squishy mess. Your body dissolves, and you cease to exist.

You wake up. You are covered in sweat from the dream you have just had. You remember it in vivid detail and it seems to be the most frightening thing you have ever imagined. You try to check the time, but you have knocked your clock off in your nighttime thrashing. You look out the window to check if the sun has come up yet or not.

You see a giant eyeball floating outside.
