Eye Spy – True Stories
a)Last year 2009, There were two queues outside the Train Station for the Ticket Machine. One was for customers who wanted to use a cash card, the other was for those who were using cash to buy tickets. The queues were a bit long and I stood in the Cash one. I just happened to look down and there was a crispy £20 note on the ground. I picked it up. A few people saw me and must have been kicking themselves, it looked real. I couldn’t believe it. I wondered how the people in the queue never spotted it, all that time.
b) Another occasion, a while ago. I had just finished teaching an evening class and arrived home late about 9.30. As I walked round my car to go up to my flat, I spotted £10 at the back, on the floor. I looked round to see if anyone was watching, then I wondered that if I bent to pick it, there was a chance it might move. (someone playing a prank?). Anyway, I picked it up and nothing happened. I definitely remember giving the £10 away to someone who needed it the next day, but don’t ask me what I did with the £20 above because it didn’t have a name on it.
I think sometimes money does fall from heaven.
