With more than 400 million active visitors, Facebook is probably the most popular social networking site out there. ALthough the site is known for the casual social aspect, many users also use it as a professional networking too. ln fact, surveys suggest that approximately 30% of employers are using Facebook to screen potential employees.

1. Inappropriate Photos

Employer and clients don’t want to see you drinking beer or partying at clubs and bars. Picture that don’t seem that bad might end up messing up your professional life.

2. Complaining About your Job

Complaining about your work, boss, or a coworker could give a bad impression to one of your potential bosses.

3. Resume Doesn’t Match Info on your Facebook

If you wrote you went to Stanford on your resume but on Facebook it says you went to USC, your not going to get an interview. It will end up making you look like a liar and a cheat.

4. Putting statuses You Don’t Want Your Boss To See

Statuses that imply that you are not reliable, a cheat, and anything that makes you look unprofessional, can severely hurt your chances of getting the job.

5. Not Understanding Security Settings

Make you take the time and double-check all of your privacy options. If you don’t have the time, just set your profile so that people who aren’t your friends can’t access your photos or info.

6. Friends Posts

If your boss sees photos of your friends smoking and drinking, it reflects poorly on you. You will probably judged by the friends you have.
