My experiences in a factory.

Factory work is hard work!
You have to stand on your feet all the time. Last night I tried it, I stood on cement for 8 hours, luckily it had a rubber mat to stand on. I was shunned from wanting to go to the bathroom. I can’t help it if I have to go to the bathroom! My back hurt, my legs hurt, I tried to stretch once in awhile. It was noisy and once in awhile a waft of cow manure came pouring in from an open area, as it was in the outskirts of the city in a farming community.

My lunch was 20 minutes. I was really surprised. The last place I worked involved scooping up 10 lbs of icing, which was slippery and carrying it to a machine 10 feet off the ground and dumping it in. Apparently I wasn’t fast enough to load the machine, because the girl under the machine would have to stop production because of me. She was giving me dirty looks. It was really hard to keep up and I tried to my best to load it as quickly as I could. The vat was huge, and it was difficult to scoop the icing, I had to reach into the vat and try and scoop up the icing into a large bowl. Other parts of the job were ok, like loading the cakes onto a convection belt, except either it was going too fast or too slow, and once in awhile they’d shut it. At that job I didnt have one sip of water in 3 hours I was getting so dehydrated. I was supposed to work 6 hours that time, but there wasn’t enough work so I got sent home early, to my relief.
SOME people on Triond might thing clerical work is boring, but I’d much prefer clerical work to monotonous, difficult factory work, standing on cement all day and not able to even have a drink of water, or get chewed out for having to go to the bathroom.
