One day, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not even in the next few years – but one day, we will be staring in the face of our global warming problem. But what can we do about it? One person can’t change the world, right?
Scientist’s Journal – entry 1. 4th April, 2011.
They said I was mad, that it couldn’t be done. Humans with wings would have no plausible benefit, they said. But think about it – with wings, humans could travel without the need of vehicles, one of the top contributors to the global warming problem! The time to act is now. I can make the world a better place.

The plans have been made. The genetics research is complete. The wings and hollow bones of an eagle will give humans the capacity to fly. I have taken three pregnant mothers, all within their first week of pregnancy as test subjects. Yes, it was illegal. But it’s for science! And anyway, they are being given the very best attention. I swear.

It’s working! The foetuses are developing just as I intended! It also seems that the mothers no longer resent me as much as they did at first, after I kidnapped them. They are anxious to see their children, one boy and two girls, but not as much as I am!
Scientist’s Journal – entry 10. 8th March 2012.
Two out of three of the children were stillbirths. Alas, all three of the mothers also died. Humans weren’t made to give birth to children with wings that stuck out so much. I did all I could, but the internal bleeding was just too much. Although I grieve deeply, as we had grown close during our time together, I am very excited that the little boy survived. He truly is a sight to behold! I shall do my very best to be a good father.

It was Zan’s 10th birthday today. I had promised him I would take him outside for the first time in his life. We were only out there for ten minutes, and he squeezed my hand very tightly as we walked together. Although he was frightened, the moment we came back inside he was quizzing me about the next time he could go out. I told him I would take him out every month, seeing as his wings are now fully developed. We have to start his flying lessons. I’m just so afraid, both for his sake and mine.
