There was once a girl who wanted to be a chicken because she thought that by becoming a chicken she could fly. Each morning, she would wake up very early in the morning and go out of the house and observe the chicken and try to imitate them.

She would pick up their feathers from the ground and stick it to her clothes so that she would look like the chicken. This infuriated her mother to no end. Her clothes would be very badly soiled after she does that and by the time her mother washes the clothes, it would be all tattered and had to be thrown away.

One day, there was a celebration; the father took one of the chickens to slaughter as a special dish. After he cut of the chicken head, the chicken managed to shake itself free and started running around. Imagine a headless chicken running around.

The girl was distressed with what she saw and needless to say, refused to eat the chicken that night.
The next morning, she woke up earlier than usual and tried to save the remaining chicken. She would chase them and try to catch the chicken. As soon as she caught one, she would throw it up and say, “Fly, be free!!”
Unfortunately, the chicken would just fall on to the ground and continue to run away from her.

After a few such attempts, the girl gave up. It was then; she realized that chickens cannot fly. Since then, she stopped wanting to become a chicken.
