FOOTY FINALS (AFL)

FOOTY FINALS (AFL)

The big day, the day I’ve been waiting for, the 2009 footy grand final. As soon as I woke up there was a silence. In my mind I was asking myself questions; will we win? Will I play good? Will I get injured? I went downstairs to have breakfast. Mum was making me a big bowl of cereal and Dad was talking me up before the game, trying to get me psyched, but only nerves were running through me from head-to-toe.

After breakfast I had a shower and got ready, putting everything on slowly making sure everything was perfect. It finally got to my boots. I was tying them up as tight as a cat being strangled. We then jumped into the car, Mum, Dad, my little brother and I. As we were driving to the football I was nothing but nerves, I was so excited but nervous at the same time.

We arrived at the football ground. As we got out of the car I gazed upon some of the players on the other team. There was tension. The death stare went on for ages. While it was happening in my head I was thinking that this game is not going to be easy. I then went to the locker rooms chatting with a few of my team mates. I started to stop getting nervous. It was time, everyone was getting ready putting mouth guards in and football boots on everything was once again silent.  I was ready and I was pumped to play footy. We were called out onto the field. We ran as a team as if we were a pack of wolves. We were preparing for the game doing some drills and talking with the boys.

The umpires called out to the captains for the toss. As I was the captain I went out shaking hands with the other team captain, I called “heads”.  They had one the toss. There was a strong wind against our way but that didn’t worry us. I then ran back to the team, bunching them all together, talking it up as was the other team.  Then a loud raw went from both teams, “. One, two, three go team”. The teams said. We all then ran out to our positions on the field. The siren went.  “Brrrrrrrrnnnnttt”. The umpire blew the whistle and the ball had bounced. We had possession of the ball.  It was going our way and there it was we had kicked the first goal of the game.
