All that glitters isn’t gold! the cold war is over, but are hearts warm?
From Russia with love
The heavy bolt slid backwards and Lieutenant Blaine was thrown into the cold dank cell. Lt Blaine stumbled and fell hard against the stone wall, his legs were weak through lack of food and sleep depravation. His head lightly grazed the stone wall, but a thousand pain centres lit up on his cheek bone. Lt Blaine’s cheek bone was broken in two places after his captors interrogation of this morning.
Dimitri just stared at Blaine with cold indifference soldiers in this condition were nothing new to him, especially suspected spies! Another soldier stepped out from the shadows and spoke to Dimitri,
“I will take over for you tonight Dimitri I will watch this prisoner of the Russian army. You go back to your wife and kids its Friday, you go, you can owe me one”

Dimitri didn’t need a second invitation he handed the prison landing keys over and made a speedy exit to the outside world. The second soldiers drew up a battered three legged stool and sat down. Lt Blaine could see the blue steel of the Kalashnikov AK47 glinting in the watery light provided by the tiny window in the cold stone.
The guard pulled out a cigarette and lit it, drawing heavily on the coarse cigarette the guard blew heavy blue smoke in Blaine’s direction. Silence filled the dreary cell until,
“Lt Blaine you and I have spent hours together in the interrogation room and where has it got us eh? You are half dead and I have given up my Friday night. This time there are no witnesses and its just you and me and Mr Kalashnikov! You will tell me what you were doing in Russia and you will tell me tonight!”
Lt Blaine wiped crusty blood from his lips and spoke,
“Listen my name is Lieutenant Ray Blaine 3rd reconnaissance division working with the United Nations you have my dog tags, we have been over this ground for two days now. I want to see someone from the UN please I beg you stop this madness”
