Genghis Khan.
Genghis Khan was one of the most famous warriors in ancient history. His fierce army massacred helpless prisoners and innocent civilians in tens of millions. His very name terrorized people during his reign. However, Genghis Khan was ranked as one of the greatest military geniuses among others such as Alexander and Napoleon. Genghis Khan’s real name was Temujin. He was the son of a minor Mongolian chieftain. Tragedy fell on him when he was only eight. Both his parents were killed and he was made a slave under the charge of his father’s enemies. Fortunately, Temujin was very ambitious and cunning. In his teens, he began to build a power base amongst the scattered Mongolian tribes. Soon, he was able to unite all the tribes into one large army. He developed the army into the most disciplined and well-trained one. There were no infantry or foot soldiers in his army. All the soldiers rode on horses or also known as cavalry and they could move fast. Under his leadership, his army became the most efficient one of his time. They destroyed cities that resisted and killed everyone in them, but spared cities that surrendered. Genghis Khan;s empire stretched from Asia to Europe and India. However, he died before he could extend his empire further.
