George’s Tonsils
George was a very interesting Dragon. Not only was he an attractive shade of Violet, he was smart as well. Dragon’s have a reputation for not being too bright. But not George!
His friend, Sara the Tiger-Kitten, Kitten-Tiger, was sweet and loveable, and sometimes
She and George shared a cup of chocolate from the chocolate lake. Not today, though.
George had a very sore throat, and his fire was dim. He could barely talk and when he did he sounded more like Foggy the Frog than himself.
Miranda, Sara’s mommy, tried some very good home remedies. First she tried honey and lemon, then she tried slippery elm, then a warm cloth wrapped around his neck, and finally some herb tea. Nothing was working and now George was having a fever.
Poor George. Crystal, George’s mommy, was more than a little concerned.
She bundled him up and put him on her back with Sara and Miranda, and rushed to the forest doctor, Doctor Gump.
Doctor Gump was a very kindly troll. Not all trolls are kindly and some are really very mean, especially when it comes to fiery dragons. Doctor Gump was different. He had a full head of pale blue hair, which when he was young was a beautiful cobalt dark blue.
He had a long, long beard and favored wearing orange and green and blue clothes. He gave all the children marshmallows and advised them to eat them after dinner and be sure to brush their teeth. He spoke many of the Win-a-dee languages, and dragon speak was one of his favorites. All he lacked was the fire.
“Well, hello there…who is my patient today?”
George croaked out a very weak “me”.
“Ah, ha,” said Dr. Gump, “can you turn off your fire while I take a peek at your throat?”
George hung his head and looked up balefully at Crystal.
