Lost credit card.
Some Of The Obstacles That I Encountered Today.
I haven’t even started doing my Christmas shopping and we’re only two weeks away. This year, I’m not planning on buying too many gifts nor spending endless hours in a crowded mall searching for that perfect gift. Anyways, I’m a bit annoyed today because I couldn’t find my Macy’s card. I have searched through all my wallets, purses and pockets and so far nothing. I don’t carry my credit card anywhere unless I know that I’m shopping at a particular store. My credit cards are stored inside a blue school box inside my drawer so I checked in there several times, but no luck.
It’s Monday, the first day of the week and you know how crazy it can get. I went through my Macy’s statement and called customer service for lost and stolen cards. I don’t how many times the system asked me to enter my credit card number and last four digits of my social security number. Then, I clicked on main menu. Do you think I have time to sit there and listen to every single feature on the menu and all the promotions that Macy’s will offer from now till Christmas. I don’t think so Not! I put the call on speaker until it told me to press 0 to speak to a customer service representative agent. I stood there on the other end listening to several Christmas carols until the call dropped. You can’t imagine the frustration I felt after having to wait so long!
It gets better than this. I went through my Macy’s statement and found another customer service number. This time, instead of calling from my office phone, I called from my cell phone. Thank you for calling Macy’s customer service. For account number, press 1, For status of an order, press 2, press 3 for any other options. Can you imagine having to go through the entire process all over again and not being able to speak to a customer service representative? After entering my account number and last four digits of my social, I pressed 3 for main menu. Instead of pressing 4 for lost and stolen card, this time I pressed 0 to speak to an agent directly. Again, they placed me on hold. This time, there was no music in the background and seconds later, the call ended. WTF?
As far as the card being lost, it’s not a big deal because you can call and they just replace it and send you a new card in the mail. Since I do have a good credit limit, my concern is that any creep can find my card and go on a major shopping spree. After half an hour, I was able to get through a customer service representative. I told him sir, I have been trying to contact Macy’s customer service for the past half an hour and I haven’t been able to get through an agent. There seems to be a problem with your system and I just wanted to bring this to your attention. The agent apologized a number of times and said that he had entered my card as lost in the system so nobody will be able to shop with it. What a sigh of relief! I guess he wanted to verify that I was the cardholder so he asked me a bunch of questions from my birthday to my mother’s maiden name. I’m surprised he didn’t ask me how many times I go to the bathroom throughout the day. Well, I should be getting my card in the mail between 5-7 business days. What good does that do sir, I said. I need to finish my shopping this week. He said I can still shop, but show my ID.
