Jiang Gong was a knowledgeable person. He was humble though he gained high respect in his intellectual achievement. He was also filial to his parents and took good care of his younger brothers.

One day, Jiang gong brought his third brother, Ji Jiang to a town. On the way to the town, they chatted and shared things together. They were indeed happy to be good brothers. Soon, they passed through a thick forest. They were not alert that several burglaries rushed out from the forest and ambushed them from behind. These burglaries had snatched their watches, necklaces, gold chains and some of their money. Even the burglaries had snatched all their belongings but they still felt not satisfied. The burglaries even resolved to kill them.

Jiang gong loved his younger brother very much. He immediately defended his brother’s body and said, “He is still young. He is a cup of tea in the family. Daddy and mummy love him very much. Please, don’t kill him. My dad and mum will be very sad if they learned that he had been killed. I beg you all to kill me instead of him!”

Listening to his brother’s words, Ji jiang afraid his elder brother will be harm. He quickly pushed his brother to the back and stepped forward to face the burglaries and said, “No! Don’t kill my brother. In fact, my elder brother is a cup of tea of both my parents but not me. His knowledge is broad and he is expected to service our country in the future. If you all really want to kill, please kill me. Please do not injure my brother!”

The burglaries felt guilty and sorry for these two brothers. The burglaries respected them as they dared to death just to protect the other party. The burglaries regretted that they had conducted crimes and would like to apology to them. Without any hesitate, the burglaries mustered their courage and said, “Both of you are useful persons. We are not right. It’s our fault. We shouldn’t harm others. Please forgive us!”

The burglaries then untied the two brothers’ ropes and returned the belongings to them. After that, they left the place quietly.
