This is my story about a woman with a beautiful heart helping a friend in need.

Thank God for Good Samaritans

Times were hard enough before I lost my job.  Prices on gas and food were increasing.  I was looking for a second job to make ends meet. I had just finished college.  I thought things would be easier, and I would get a better job with my new degree.  I was wrong.  I was trying to find a job in public relations or business management while I was working as a waitress in a restaurant.  I put in two years for an associate’s degree, only to be told I could not have the job because of my lack of experience. I finished college in June of 2009. I lost the job I had December 23, 2009, because the restaurant closed down for good. I had worked there for nearly five years. Two of those five years I got very little sleep, because of classes and assignments that kept me awake all hours of the night.

Now it is January 22, 2010, and I am sitting at my computer writing articles for an on-line website, hoping I can earn enough money to keep my home that I have lived in for many years.  I have become so depressed.  I am getting calls from credit card companies and collection agencies wanting their money.  The finance company where I got my student loan started contacting me, wanting me to pay on my student loan which is now in default. I owe them, but I have no money. I have a part time job. I will soon owe two month’s rent. I have resorting to begging people to help me. I even asked for charitable organizations to help.  They are out of funds. This was just before the tragedy that hit Haiti. I get a lot of people offering me food. I thank God I grew my own vegetables this past spring and summer.  I have one package of frozen chicken breasts, two chicken pot pies and a lot of frozen vegetables from my garden.  Soon I will know what it is like not to eat meat or protein, for that matter.  I guess my body could use a good cleansing.  I think this is when I could learn to cut up a fish I catch myself to eat.
