A story of a friend leaving.
I walk casually around with some friends, having a good time, despite the emotional tragedy that soon awaits me. I push it to the back of my mind and laugh at silly jokes from silly boys. But then I see you, and can’t take my eyes from you. But you don’t see me. One of your friends aproaches me and wishes for a hug. I happily give him one and smile and laugh. I turn to catch a glimpse of you one last time, and see you running up to me. I grab you in a hug and squeeze. I just want to keep you here, but I know I cannot. You tell me you are out for one last night on the town. I smile and let you go. My friends and I carry on down the street and pass you again on the corner. I hurry up to you, knowing I will be going home soon. I pull you to me and whisper in your ear, “I’m leaving soon. Have a safe trip.” You thank me and say you will. As I slowly walk away to join my friends, I glance back at you, maybe for the very last time…
