A short story with a twist! Julie just wante her Sean home!
He has done his time he’s coming home!
The anticipation was almost too much to bear Julie clutched her handbag as the bus ebbed and weaved down the country lanes.
Julie thought, ‘Its been a long time since I have seen my baby. God I hope he hasn’t lost too much weight since I saw him? The food they get is awful’.
Julie looked around the bus and hoped no one would know she was going to meet her baby and the things he has done!
Sean sat patiently at the train terminus he thought, ‘Christ its been a while what if she has gone off me we’re not married yet? Engaged sure’.
A London bound train pulled up and Sean almost jumped on it!
He thought, ‘I might just jump on that train and go to live with my mother again she will take me in she loves me so much, she knows I didn’t mean to kill him. A mother’s love is unbreakable’.
The green bus rumbled on. Julie checked her mobile phone for a message, anything! Then she remembered he wasn’t allowed a mobile phone.
She thought. ‘Just hug him tell him how much I missed him. Surely the time apart wont change our feelings? However he did sound strange on the phone yesterday? Maybe its my imagination? I have been true to him whilst he has been away he would go insane if I strayed he can be violent, I’m not denying that’
A kindly elderly lady spoke to Sean, “Hey you don’t mind if I sit next to you it looks like you need the company?”
Sean replied, “Oh sorry I was miles away; yes please sit down”
The lady looked Sean up and down and said,
“Have you been away? Its just you and your bag? Nice holiday?”
Sean gritted his teeth and then relaxed his face muscles and said, “Yes I have been away but I’m on my way home now. My Fiancée is getting on the bus to meet me here. Well I hope so, she did write me whilst I was away, she is good like that she is very loyal”
A gust of wind scattered spent papers down the platform of ‘Tottenham Underground Station’ The kind lady opened her purse and offered Sean a sweet from the white packet. Sean took the sweet and said, “Thanks I haven’t had a sweet in a while”
