Once there was a little girl. She was with her grandpa. Her name was Ellen, her grandpa’s name was Joe and he had asthma. She was in third grade. One day when Ellen went home from school, it was mysteriously quiet. She found that strange because usually her grandpa stays home and he greets her when she comes home. So she went upstairs, and oh, no! Her grandpa was lying on the floor, motionless! She went over and listened to his heart. She had learned about that in her school. She went to her bedroom and cried until her parents came home. Ellen told her parents that her grandpa Joe’s heart wasn’t beating! When they took him to the doctor to find out the reason, the doctor said it was because of a killer! They found a bullet. They called detectives to find the killer but Ellen was really confused because she thought he had either died because of an asthma attack or because of old age. When they found out about the burglar Ellen was surprised because the culprit was her friend Ember’s father! She was somber because of that. Ember only wanted to be her friend because she wanted to find out her address.

But actually her father came to steal and he knew grandpa Joe would tell the others about him so he killed him. But he was dumb because then they would find the bullet and find him. Ellen learned that she had to look out for thieves and burglars’ children because they might trick her into becoming their friends!
