Creative and educational story based on a fictional Japanese samurai in the video game, Soul Caliber: his life, equipment, and his legacy.

One day, I, Heishiro Mitsurugi, was preparing for the battle of one of many fates.   I prepared for this battle with lifelong training that made me one of the most skilled warriors in the land.   I had never lost one battle, but people spoke of an army (Lord Fang’s militia) who had the strength to beat my lord’s militia.   My lord, Lord Ming, had an army superiorly trained by skilled masters who came from families of great reputation, which did not fail him.   One of the masters (who was a very old relative of mine), Master Yamasaki, put me through lifelong training that led me to greatness and to be a living legend.  I was thought of as the most skilled, but the most generous samurai who gave to the poor many times.  This skill made it so that I did not need much possessions and armor for protection.

My armor was a highly modernized type that was a mix of oyoroi and harakami.  It had allowed me to make quick movements, but it also provided good protection at the same time.  The one piece of armor that I refused to wear was my helmet.  Amazingly, my master agreed with me on this issue because wearing no helmet provided me with more visibility, and it showed that I was not afraid of death.  My breastplate was made of the strongest and lightest metal that was decorated with red and then lined with gold buttons and stripes.  It was put on over the head and tied around the outside, but underneath you had hide to make sure it would not stick to you during hot days.  My shoulder and forearm protection were made of the same metal but did not have the same decorations.  My shoulder protection had red squares lined with gold.  It also had a famous Japanese saying on each plate.  The forearm decorations were also painted red but with a pattern of gold buttons and stripes that repeated up the whole sleeve.  My bicep protection was made of the finest hide that had metal platelets attached with a string of hide.  I wore pants made of strong hide that were held up with a belt-like cloth with decorative tassels at the end of the belt.  On the thighs of these pants, I had light metal greaves with the Japanese symbol of strength.  I also had shin guards that were made of the same metal, but with no decoration.  I had sandals with soles made of wood and the laces made with hide.

I am sorry, but I find this short story excessively lame

I was aiming for more of an educational background to a short story, to help the reader learn of the ways of Japanese samurai back then, like what things they value morally and what type of equipment they might have.

I forgot to say, if anyone would like to help me improve my paper with some constructive criticism, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, take a look at my other short stories, which I think aren’t as “excessively lame” as this one is. The other ones are not education based.

Soul Caliber? You should do one on Dynasty Warriors, you might get more hits, or Samurai Warriors even

yeah, make it sound less forced also. it looks like you didn’t put your heart into this one. other than that, it has potential
