Henry of the Gym

Every morning, I watch Henry of the Gym, as he is called, makes his first trip to the YMCA. After his first visit, he will come home, disappear inside his shrine for precisely one hour, and then make his second trip. After spending another two hours building muscles, he will return home once more, and if the weather is good enough, take a nap outside before apparently eating dinner, falling asleep, and starting the same routine the next morning. Why does he do this, you ask? That is what each and every neighbor of his has been trying to find out years past and years to come.

“Henry, you’re 63 for crying out loud! Why waste your time in the gym? Go on vacation, go have some fun!” We rant every day. And yet, we always seem to receive the same reply – complete and utter silence. Not a word comes out of his mouth when we ask him anything along those lines, it seems that he lives in his own world. And yet, funny enough, this isn’t the only mystery about Henry that exists in the neighborhood. His status as a bachelor is certainly one more aspect of his life that drives people insane trying to figure out, figuratively speaking.

An obsession like his to work out doesn’t develop at an age such as his. He must have had this passion to exercise since his youth. That in mind, one must wonder why he has not been married yet – after all, 95% of girls love a well-built man. If Henry could get just about any girl that he wanted, why is he not married yet? There are many myths as to why not – for one, he could have loved someone who died, or perhaps moved away, never to be heard from again. Or maybe he simply wants to remain a bachelor such as not to be “tied down” to a woman. Either way, no one knows – that is, except Henry of the Gym.
