A fictional short story about a woman who has the day off, the places she goes to and the people she meets.
As the morning sun started to ascend and the rays lit up the bedroom through the curtains she awoke. It felt like she had been asleep for days, she felt so rested and full of energy. This feeling might have something to do with the fact that today was her day off on a Wednesday. She had never had a weekday off since she started working as an advertising pitcher. The group at Westmore Advertising Agency had specifically recruited her after seeing her promote parties on the street, the reason they wanted her so bad is because she got the job done to their satisfaction.
She rolled out of bed brushed her teeth and took a shower. Ever since she was a child the first thing she would always do is brush her teeth, it always made her feel more refreshed. That is just one of the quirky things that she does. She has a certain way of doing things that to some might seem unusual. She got dressed in jeans and a t-shirt and counted to five as she always did after she dressed. She decided that she would have breakfast today at the corner diner and headed off to start her day.
She parked her car and entered the diner and sat at the counter. She ordered bacon and eggs with a cup of juice. She ate while behind her in three booths were an older man and his wife, a mother and her little girl, and a business man with his nose buried in the newspaper oh wait the national enquirer now that’s something you don’t see very often. She lowered her head and smiled at the thought that this might be a sign as to the peaceful casual day she was about to have. She finished her breakfast paid the bill and left the tip. She got into her mustang. She loved mustangs since she was born, for twenty five years now. It’s the only type of car that she would ever have in her life she would make sure of that. Before she turned the ignition on she thought to herself where to go next then decided she would just let fate take her hand.
She left the parking lot and headed west then she realized the main street was closed due to a parade. That was the second sign. She was going to see the parade. As she walked through the crowd she met an interesting man dressed up in an evening gown. It turns out that this was the gay pride parade. She had never been to one before so she thought this would be fun. Her new friend was Patrick a real estate lawyer who seemed to be having the time of his life he was so funny and kept making her laugh. They joked about so many things. Then a loud whistle overcame the crowd the parade was about to begin. It turns out Patrick was going to be riding in a big float with a huge sunflower and he invited her to join him, she had been having such a good time that she accepted. The parade lasted three and half hours, afterward she had lunch with Patrick and some of his friends.
