Greek Mythology.

Let’s go back, back into time, when Gods and Goddesses roamed the universe.  There was a contest of beauty among three of the most beautiful Goddesses of Olympus. This famous story begins at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis which all the Gods were invited excluding, Eris – the goddess of strife.  She was quickly turned away, for being a troublemaker and in her anger cast a golden apple addressed “Kallisti” or “For the most beautiful one”.  The goddesses thought to be the most beautiful were Aphrodite, Athena and Hera.  They each claimed the apple however, only one can keep it.  They called on Zeus to choose but he didn’t want any hatred among the other two.  So to be fair, he called on the Prince of Troy, Paris.  They each bribed him.  Hera offered ownership of Europe and Asia.  Athena offered skill in battle, wisdom and the ability of the greatest warrior.  Aphrodite offered the love of the most beautiful woman in the world, Helen.  Paris chose Aphrodite – and Helen.  Helen was married to the King of Sparta, King Menelaus.  This led to the abduction of Helen of Sparta and the beginning of the Trojan War and the destruction of Troy, which lasted ten years.
