The Woodpecker.
Have been doing a lot of study on natural history and Evolution V Creation and I have come to the conclusion that one must have a greater faith to believe it the Evolution theory.
Let us look at an example of Evolution teaching.
Evolution teaches us that, where there is a need in the animal kingdom, it can be fixed by an awareness of the problem and millions of years of therapy.
I have, therefore, been convinced that, in every animal group, they had an anatomical and scientific guru. These were essential to the Evolutionary process.
Let us consider the Woodpecker.
For some reason best know to themselves, It is essential that Woodpeckers peck holes in trees not just any old hole, it must be a deep hole and, therein lies a problem. The woodpecker pecks so hard that the power used should drive his beak back through his head thereby, of course, killing the poor woodpecker.
This doesn’t happen because he has a system of shock absorbers and springs that cushion the peck.
Let us go back a few million years to the time when the pecker didn’t have this system.
Here we have the perfect evolutionary problem. A problem which an anatomical and scientific guru and millions of years will fix.
This is how I see it working.
The anatomical guru goes to the chief Woodpecker whom I declare was called “Woody” and said, “Chief, we have a problem. All of us are dying because we are driving our beaks through our heads and killing ourselves. I have done the research and found that we need something to cushion the blows. “
“Right.” Said Woody. “”Bring the scientific guru.”
The scientific guru was brought and the problem was explained to him.
His first answer was, “Simple. Tell everyone to peck softer.”
“Can’t do that.” Explained Woody, “The holes won’t go deep enough.”
So Scientific guru went away and worked on the problem. Eventually he returned and said, Chief, the problem is solved come with me.”
They went to a tree where there were lanes and circles and things drawn upon it,
“As you can see,” said scientific guru, “There are the plans for a set of shock absorbers and gears and things which will make it possible for us to peck as hard as we like and not damage ourselves. All we need to do is show this plan to all the woodpeckers and they must start thinking shock absorbers and things, A million or so years down the track we should be right.”
A souvenir of this tree would be priceless but, unfortunately, it ended up a desk in a Government school and all traces of the plans were destroyed be the carving of innumerable initials of innumerable students over the years.
Evolution triumphs again but, the question begs asking:
Through those millions of years waiting for the shock absorbers to grow:
How did they survive????
