One fun-packed day of goofing off.
My soccer team had had a full day of soccer carnival and most of us were all really tired. After school soccer was also part of the full day, but after the carnival, we all thought that we couldn’t do it anymore. We arrived at the soccer pitch, all tired and ready to sleep, but our temporary soccer coach had no idea on how to play soccer, so we took care of ourselves. I was in goals, being a goalkeeper, and everyone else chose their original positions.
Half way through the soccer match, we were getting hammered from all sides and were lossing 2-0, but that didn’t stop us. One of the foreward players came to us with the idea of switching all the positions to the oposite of what we normally are… meaning that I would become a foreward player (nervous gulp). I had my friend and another girl up forward with me, but we didn’t have the speed to be forewards, so we just goofed off.
It had gotten mostly through the second half when the other team finally caught onto our mood and motion. Two of the players were too serious and were teasing us, but while I was up in foreward, the goalie (who was usually a foreward) started running with the ball all the way to the halfway line. There she skidded on the ground and threw her hands in the air say “Yes! I’ve wanted to do that all day!”
I felt quite victorious myslef because I finally kicked the ball over my head while running. It felt awesome and the girls in the defence line laughed with me. I was cracking random jokes all match, mainly because we weren’t even playing a real game. One of the not so good girls actually scored a goal on the other team and we all cheered for her.
In the end it was so fun and worth doing that the other teams coach congratulated us and said that there wasn’t any shame in lossing!
