The story of how I personally went through some really tough times, became a stronger person in God, and ended up with two of the best jobs I have ever had.
Because of my accident, I was without a vehicle for 3 months. I had no money to go buy one until I was able to withdraw my money from the state retirement system. Luckily my great friends and family pitched in and let me depend on them. They would pick me up and take me back and forth to work and to wherever else I needed to go. It was a very hard adjustment for me to have to do that. I’m usually the one that others depend on and would rather do for others than for myself. But my situation during this time also made me realize that God was telling me that I wasn’t being punished and that I needed to let others do for me.
While all of this was happening to me, I also knew that I did not have a full time job anymore. I did, however, still have my part-time job at Bass Pro Shops. I really do not know what I would have done had I not had that to fall back on. So, between that and the fact that I was able to draw unemployment insurance, I was able to continue living like I was used to and making sure my bills were paid.
My job at Bass Pro Shops is not only a really fun atmosphere to work in, but the people I work with make it that much more enjoyable. I look forward to coming to work every day. I have also been able to obtain a full time job as an office manager for a restaurant at an upscale country club in St. Francisville, La. I have also enjoyed working this job as I have learned some new and interesting things related to the restaurant business. My co-workers at the restaurant are just like my co-workers at Bass Pro. They make the job fun to where you want to go to work.
I would not wish the tragedy that I went through on anyone. However, I have learned that I went through these situations for a reason – because God wanted me to be a stronger person and to be closer to Him. And for that I am eternally grateful.
