King of the Kenney clan speaks to the world beneath his reign…

Here comes pop…I know what he’s going to do before he even starts.

He’ll reach over to pat my head even though he knows I don’t like it.

It must be a human thing. He cannot seem to control his hands, poor man.

Next, he’ll play with my tail. He knows that doesn’t faze me so he’ll continue that for as long as we’re both still. He should’ve been born with one of his own, maybe that would’ve cured him from playing with mine…but then again maybe not…he is after all a mere human. They aren’t too bright sometimes. I tolerate him. As long as he keeps my litter box clean, food and fresh water in my bowls we get along fairly well. However, the petting the top of my head thing just gets on my last nerve every time. You’d think that after my pulling away and or ducking five thousand times or more he’d have learned not to do it but no…every time he sees me here it comes…that confounded hand reaching out for my crowning glory. Can’t he see the disgust in my eyes? Is the man blind? No, I keep forgetting, he is only a human.

He is good for my ego. He tells me everyday that I am a pretty cat. Of course I am. I’m mostly black with some white. He says my coat is as thick and soft as a rabbits pelt. How true.

I love to play with water and I don’t mind getting wet. It fascinates me! Whenever he turns the water on here, I come to investigate!

I haven’t even mentioned my mama…she’s a good human. She doesn’t bother me, most of the time she just reaches out and scratches my back. At least she respects my feelings about touching my head! Now if I could just get it through my pop’s hard head!

Oh well, to do anything more about this problem would be beneath me so I leave it alone.

I’m not the only cat in the family, although I am the most important one. I tolerate the rest of them and they reply in kind. Sometimes I’ll play with the others but only when I’m feeling a bit sorry for them…poor things…they aren’t as important or as pretty as me.

Still, one has to occasionally extend a paw out to those less fortunate in life…

In closing I’d like to say that if you have a cat in your life…pay them the proper homage daily. If you don’t have a cat in your life…go out and locate one. No one should be denied the honor and privilege of taking care of God’s greatest creation…the domestic cat.

Thank you Mys and B.C. and yes I love cats although my first love is dogs. Each has his/her own unique personality just like a child and they depend on us for everything…they truly are gifts from above…
It feels sooo good to be writing again B.C.

I don’t care for cats, so it is good to know someone in the world is saving and taking care of what I don’t.

    Nick,
Excellent cat story. My neighbor has one fully black cat out the 89 she has… That was at last count a year ago. Her husband told me he made her get rid of some of them. But I think that some was a lot. I’m going to print this out for Mary. This is definitely one of your very best. Nick why don’t you put your animal stories into a book of short stories. You really write a lot of good ones.

Tell Jan Hi and give her our love

    Randy
