What did they do to this beautiful creature, so full of love. Where were those playful eyes, that I use to look into when she was here. What have I done?
In the hour and one half hours I spent with her, she seemed to really be depressed and perhaps even given up, I had to put my face into her face to get her to make eye contact; after a few seconds she would just close her eyes. After peeing all over the play, getting baby food on the floor, and then she got the runs, I was quite amazed that even in her awkwardness, she tried very hard to go on the paper towels I had put down to cover the pee and the lose bowels she was spreading all over the floor. I thought I would ask if I could take her out for a little while, to get out of this now very nasty atmosphere. They said I could and she did her best to make her way out the door, and off the premises. She had a lot of trouble walking, her bad leg had gotten worse, and she twitched and wiggled with each step. This was not the way I had brought her here just 2 weeks ago. This was truly a crime and I felt there was nothing I could do. I was broke, did not need to be considered a bet thief, or maybe that is what they wanted. The worse part was I don’t think I could give her the time she needed this time to recover. She trusted no one, even though she did eat a bit from me, it would take the many days to get her eating again, and probably even longer for her to develop any kind of trust.
My visit came to an end after spending about a half hour outside, she tried walking around, and she did go to the bathroom while on the leash, which was something we could not get her to do while she was at this place, but then again she had the runs. We walked a bit, and then she laid down in the nice warm sun, we played with her, petting her and giving her all the love we had, it paid off. As I looked at her, as she was panting, she was smiling; she was happy again if only for a few moments.
