When little boys are troubled and they have nobody to turn to, sometimes they can get into a little trouble, like little Bobby.
Bobby was a very active child. He had been to the counselors office twice today and was supposed to stay after school for being tardy for the third day in a row.
This was it, his last warning was given yesterday, he was being expelled this time.
Maybe if he got home before his mom, he could intercept the school calling home to tell his mother he had been expelled, bobby thought to himself as he walked alone down the alley behind the corner mini-mart and the only gas station in their little town of only a few hundred people. Everyone knew Bobby was a troubled child. His dad had been sent to prison before bobbys 2nd birth day. Bobbys mom thought it best if she told bobby that his dad had died when he was a little baby. After all bobby would not be able to remember anything about his dad so it was like he was dead anyways, his mother thought.
Bobby picked up a cement rock
He cocked his arm back and with all his might he threw that rock, right into a car windshield that was on the freeway under the over pass Bobby was walking across. The car skidded and then rolled over and over. bobby stood in shock. a body, looked like maybe a girl had been flung out of the car onto the road. the girl was screaming and crying, Mommy, Mommy help me mommy she cried. I didn’t do anything, bobby screamed out as he was running across the bridge. His heart was raceing and he was so scared it felt like he was floating when he was running as fast as he could go. He ran accross the overpass and into the corn field on the other side. He could hear screamming and in the distance a siren. I didn’t do it, he begin to say over and over and he started crying. It wasn’t my fault, I didn’t mean to do that, I didn’t want to hurt anyone.
The sirens got louder as the ambulance pulled up to the wrech down below on the freeway. Bobby had not even noticed that it had begun to get dark and he thought, oh No, my grandpa will be out looking for me.
Just as he stood up and turned to walk out to the trail that goes across the old parker place, it was abondoned years ago and all the kids from the high school use the old barn to have their teenage get togethers and do what teenagers do, to his grandads house, about 2 miles across the pasture. he heard his grandpa, BOBBYyyyyyy! BOBBYyyyyyyyyy,
Bobby knew he wouldn’t be able to look at his grandpa without giveing his secret away.
Bobby, are you out there son?
Bobby yelled out, here i am grandpa, over here. He ran out to the opening where his grandpa was standing. Where you been boy, his grandpa exclaimed. Bobby studdard while lifting his hand pointing behind him towards the freeway, he said, I wa wa was walk walk walk ing cross the the the bridge an an and sssssss aw a ca ca ca car turn ove ove ove over.
bobbys grandpa grabed him and held him tight, squezing him and holding him as if he’d never see him again once he let go. He knew it was bad this time. He heard the police radios on his ham radio. The police were already figureing it out. As soon as the first officer pulled up to the wreck, he could see the rock in the front seat, embeded in the head of the driver. They were pretty sure though that it was someone driveing buy and tossed the rock out of their car into the mc brides windshield as they were going to the mall the next county over.Likely some teenagers high on pot or something bad like that.
Grandpa? Bobby said in a low scared voice as they were driveing towards the freeway, Can you take the old road home?
Bobbys Grandpa felt a big lump in his throat.
