To my love my heart belongs.

Once upon a year ago, A soldier asked me if I would follow him. It only took me 1 second to tell him anywhere, even to hell and back. I told him, there was no place too far, too hot or cold. That could keep me away from being at his side. Love knows no boundries, this I know…Taking hard work, commitment, and heart to grow. We have spent days with no words, months with no voices, and still we wait patiently.
Yesterday is a memory, today is a blessing, tomorrow is never promised… Enjoying the simple moments we still have, as the time slowly passes by. The excitement of you coming home, never leaves my body. The journey that just begun, is slowly coming to an end. Soon it will be ours for the taking, going where the road leads. To the next base, another deployment, more time away. My dreams carry me to where you are, together there we meet.
After all this time of of wishing on shooting stars and counting flower petals. That you would be here now, a mere superstition, to find something true. No longer do I have disbelief, for you are here with me. So now I wish upon that star, to keep you safe where ever you are. No longer counting flower petals, but days of the week.

My life has been forever changed, the moment you walked in. That the love of two children and a man so strong, could be what life was all about. For you I fight, for you I would die… Enduring all I have. The tears may fall and the fears may show, but my love for you will always grow.
Being a soldier is hard, but loving one is harder. You will notice the one who loves a soldier; wearing the dogtags around her neck, a shirt that says half her heart is gone, and the fake smile so no one asks what is wrong. This woman spends moments crying after seeing another one fallen, her mind drifting to his image. Sitting at a red light, when a song comes on that reminds her of him. This woman is not your average woman; her heart is strong, yet her body is weak. If you ever come across this woman, tell her thank you for standing behind the man who fights for you. It will show her she is not as invisible as she sometimes feels.
